Short answers to the questions people ask before they sign up. No marketing, just what it is.
What is it?
POINT is a social network where your page is actually yours. Every member gets a Space, a personal page at yourpointspace.com/u/your-name with a theme, a background, a song, your Top Friends, photos, interests and links. Your Home feed is your friends' posts and your groups, newest first, with no ranking. Friendship is two-way. There are no ads.
Who's behind it?
Aftershock Network, Inc., a software company in Florida. POINT is built and run by a small team there. Charges on your card show as AFTERSHOCK* POINT.
What does it cost?
Nothing, and it isn't a trial. Everything a person needs to use POINT is in the free account.
There are three optional memberships. POINT+ ($5.99/month) adds premium themes, backgrounds, fonts, any accent color, more widgets, bigger uploads and Space analytics. Creator ($4.99/month) adds followers and audience tools for people with a public following. Business ($4.99/month) is a separate business Space with hours, contact details, services and followers. None of them change reach, ranking or visibility, because there's no ranking.
Memberships are bought on the web and managed there.
How is it different from Facebook or Instagram?
Three things. The feed is chronological and only your friends and groups, so nothing is hidden from you and nothing from strangers is pushed at you. Your page is customizable in a way no big network allows. And it isn't funded by advertising, so there's no reason for it to collect more than it needs or keep you scrolling.
Is it like MySpace?
In spirit. The Space, the song and Top Friends are direct descendants. The technology isn't: it's built for phones, there's no HTML injection, and privacy controls are real.
How does privacy work?
Posts are friends-only by default; you can make any post public. Your whole Space can be public or friends-only, and within it each block can be set to everyone or friends. Your birthday shows month and day to friends, never the year, or to nobody. You can download everything you've put on POINT from Settings, and delete your account yourself.
We don't sell personal information and don't run ads. Service providers handle email, verification texts, card processing and push delivery, and that's the list.
Where are the apps?
The Android app is available now at welcometopoint.com/android, ahead of the Play Store listing. The iPhone app will come through TestFlight and then the App Store. Until then, welcometopoint.com works on any phone's browser and can be added to the home screen.
What can I do on it?
Post text, photos and video. React with six reactions and comment with threaded replies. Share link previews and hashtags. Run polls. Make friends and pick Top Friends. Message friends privately, with photos. Start or join groups, public or private, with pinned posts. Create events with RSVPs. Make photo albums. Follow creators and businesses. Search people, posts, tags, groups, events and businesses. See friends' birthdays.
What can't I do on it?
Reach people who didn't choose to see you. There's no boosting, no promoted posts, no paying for placement. There's no marketplace and no news feed from publishers. Businesses reach their followers and nobody else.
How do I get my friends on?
Every member has an invite link. Anyone who signs up through it is connected to you automatically. Your Space has a share card for texts and Instagram stories, with a QR code.
How do I report something?
Every post, comment, message, Space and business page has a Report button, and you can block any member. Reports are reviewed by people, and the rules are in the Community Guidelines.
Where do I start?
