Every "no ads" promise deserves the follow-up question: then how do you pay for the servers? Here's POINT's answer, in full, including the numbers.
What's free
The Personal account is the whole product. Your Space with themes, backgrounds, a song, Top Friends, albums, links and interests. Your Home feed of friends and groups, in order. Messages, groups, events, polls, reactions, birthdays, search, data export. The Android app, the iPhone app when Apple approves it, and the web.
It isn't a trial and it doesn't nag. Most members will never pay and that's fine; the model doesn't depend on them.
What memberships are
Memberships are extras for people who want more from their page or who are using POINT for something beyond friends.
- POINT+ is $5.99 a month: more design options and personal tools for people who care what their Space looks like.
- Creator at $4.99 and Creator+ at $14.99 are for people building an audience: a public Space meant to be found, with the tools that go with that.
- Business at $4.99 and Business+ at $19.99 are for shops, gyms, restaurants and services: a business page with hours, location and contact, and the tools to run it.
All monthly, all cancel-any-time from your settings, and when you cancel you keep everything you posted. The free account is still the free account.
What memberships never change
This is the part that matters. There is no ranking system on POINT, so there is nothing to buy your way up. A member on the free plan and a member on Business+ post to their friends and groups in exactly the same way: newest first, everyone sees it. Paying changes what you can do with your page. It never changes who sees your posts.
That is deliberate. The moment reach is for sale, the feed stops being honest, and the feed being honest is the entire reason POINT exists.
Why this works where ads don't
An ad-funded network needs you scrolling, so every design choice pulls toward more time on the app: ranking, infinite feeds, autoplay, notifications that aren't really for you. A membership-funded network needs you to like your page enough to keep it. Those pull in opposite directions, and we picked the second one on purpose.
The math is also smaller than people expect. POINT is built by a small company, Aftershock Network, Inc., in Florida, on infrastructure that costs a fraction of what people assume. A small percentage of members choosing a membership covers it. Nobody's attention needs to be sold.
The commitments, written down
- No ads, ever, in the feed or anywhere else.
- No selling or sharing member data for advertising.
- No ranking, and no paid reach.
- The free account stays complete.
- You can export your data and delete your account yourself, any time.
If any of that changes, it changes here first, in plain language. We don't expect it to.
