How to install

  1. Download it

Tap the button above in Chrome. If Chrome warns that the file "might be harmful", choose Download anyway. That warning appears for every app that doesn't come from the Play Store.

  2. Open the download

Tap the download notification when it finishes, or open Files → Downloads → POINT.apk.

  3. Allow installs from Chrome

The first time, Android says your phone "isn't allowed to install unknown apps from this source". Tap Settings, switch on Allow from this source, then go back.

  4. Tap Install

Android installs it. If a Google Play Protect box appears instead, see the next step.

  5. If Google Play Protect blocks it

Play Protect warns about every app it hasn't seen in the Play Store yet. On its box, tap the small More details text near the bottom, then Install anyway. If the box only offers Scan app, tap that, let it finish, then Install anyway. Samsung phones may also show Auto Blocker: Settings → Security and privacy → Auto Blocker → off, install, then turn it back on.

  6. Open POINT and log in

Use your POINT username or email. When it asks about notifications, tap Allow so friend requests, comments and messages reach you.

Updates. POINT is coming to the Play Store soon, and updates will be automatic from then on. Until then the app shows a banner on Home when a new build is ready; tap it, download, and install over the top. Your login and everything you've posted stay put.
Found a bug? Have an idea? If you can't get signed up or logged in, text Eric Reed directly. Once you're in, the Feedback button inside the app reaches him just as fast. Rough edges, confusing screens, things you wish it did: all of it is useful.

iPhone?

The iPhone app is in Apple's review pipeline and will arrive through TestFlight, then the App Store. Until then, open welcometopoint.com in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
