If you run a gym, a shop, a restaurant or a team, you've watched it happen. You built a page, people followed it, and every year fewer of them see anything you post. A post that would have reached hundreds reaches dozens. Then a button appears offering to fix that for twenty dollars.
Nothing broke. That's the product.
How reach on a ranked network works
A person's feed on Facebook or Instagram is an auction. Every post that could appear, from friends, pages, groups, and increasingly from accounts they don't follow at all, gets a score. The feed shows the highest scores. A business post is competing with a cousin's wedding photos and a video the system predicts will keep the person scrolling.
Business posts lose that auction most of the time, so each post reaches a small fraction of followers. That fraction has fallen year after year as more recommended content enters the feed.
Then there's Boost. Pay, and your post gets a bid in the auction it was losing. The followers were always there. You're paying for access to people who already asked to hear from you.
Why it got worse
Three things compounded.
The feed filled with recommendations. Content from accounts you don't follow now takes a large share of Facebook and Instagram feeds, and every slot it takes is one a page can't have.
Engagement became the only signal. A post that gets reactions in its first hour spreads; a post that doesn't is buried. A small local business with two hundred followers doesn't generate that burst.
And advertising revenue depends on organic reach being scarce. If pages reached their followers for free, nobody would boost.
What a business Space on POINT does
A business on POINT has its own Space at yourpointspace.com/p/your-business: logo, banner, hours, address, phone, email, services, links, and a call-to-action button that can be Visit Website, Call, Book, Reserve, Buy Tickets or Shop.
People follow it. When you post, every follower sees the post in their Home feed, in order, alongside their friends. Reach equals followers. There's no auction because there's no ranking, and there's no Boost because there's nothing to buy.
Businesses can host events with RSVPs, which show up for followers and can be public. They can run a group for their regulars. Business+ adds a team of up to ten with roles, advanced analytics on visitors and clicks, lead forms and scheduled posts.
The honest limit is the same one every page faces anywhere: you reach your followers, not strangers. POINT has no mechanism to put your post in front of people who didn't choose you, and that's a feature of the member experience, not a gap in the business one. Growth comes from the people who already like you sharing your Space, and from your Space being a good public page that search engines index.
What it costs
Business is $4.99 a month. Business+ is $19.99. Compare that to boosting a single post. Memberships are billed on the web and cancel any time, and nothing about the membership changes who sees your posts, because nothing on POINT does.
Should you move?
Not instead of Facebook, yet. Your customers are still there, and a business goes where its customers are. But a POINT business Space costs less than one boosted post a month, reaches everyone who follows it, and is a real public page with your hours and a button that calls you. Put the link on the counter and in your bio, and let it grow alongside the places that charge you to talk to your own followers.
